World Class Training Programs help Employees GROW
Knowledge is power, and our power in employee training is CG University (CGU). CGU serves as a knowledge portal for our continuous, just-in-time learning environment. Career development is available through live group training, web-based learning, and several self-study options including CD-ROM, on-line and text materials.
CGU strives to align with our firm's mission – "Growth of our people. Growth of our clients. All else follows." CGU's GROW, THRIVE and LEAD curriculums provide a framework to cultivate individual learning and knowledge, and enhance on-the-job training.
A core element of any successful career is growth. That growth gets off to a great start in CGU's GROW program, the beginning of our staff-level training. Through this blended learning curriculum of technical and soft skills training, you receive more than 150 hours of formal training during your first four years. The comprehensive curriculum provides a formal supplement to the extensive on-the-job learning and less formal local office training that you receive on an on-going basis.
Each letter of GROW represents a specific focus on learning during the first four years of your development from associate to senior associate to manager.
G = Groundwork Groundwork training provides first-year professionals a mix of both personal development and technical training. You'll hear from firmwide leaders on topics such as CG's strategic plan, specialization, ethics and independence, and service group overviews. You also learn to enhance your professional development skills through a focus on time management, effective communication, and social and business etiquette. Technical training is a key component of Groundwork, focusing on assurance, tax, and health care.
R = Results Results builds on the technical experience and on-the-job training of second-year professionals. The focus is on achieving results through effective teamwork, communication, client engagements, and continued technical training in the areas of assurance, tax and health care.
O = Opportunities Opportunities is a specialized program that provides third-year professionals with supplemental and enhanced training in growing client relationships, creative problem solving, project management and additional technical expertise.
W= Wisdom When each of the previous stages of the growing process is nurtured, career development reaches Wisdom. This program helps experienced staff in supervisory roles focus on essential skills to effectively manage, lead and develop others. You have an opportunity to evaluate your career growth path. Wisdom puts CG's newest leaders on the path towards becoming one of the best managers in the profession.
THRIVE & LEAD
Learning doesn't end after the first four years of your career at CG. CGU's THRIVE and LEAD curriculums target your continued growth and technical expertise from year five and beyond.
THRIVE provides continued technical development through annual service group conferences and updates, as well as specialized niche training. The THRIVE curriculum enhances your external learning opportunities as you progress in your career development at CG.
LEAD provides a blended learning approach for the development of our leaders and future leaders through programming offered by CGU and several external leadership providers. The Clifton Gunderson Leadership Academy provides an avenue for professionals to hone their leadership skills through formal leadership training, projects with senior executives and 360 Degree Feedback.

The Clifton Gunderson Leadership Academy (CGLA) is just one of the many leadership development opportunities that are available at CG. The CGLA offers employees and partners the opportunity to experience personal and professional development in a blended learning environment. This new program contains three critical elements in the continued career development of the many future leaders in our firm—Formal Leadership Development Training, CG's 360 Degree Feedback Process, and Exposure to Senior Executives.
360 Degree Feedback Process provides a foundation to an individual's leadership development through personalized, specific feedback and mentoring.
Formal Leadership Development Training assists our future leaders in growing our business and developing our people.
Exposure to Senior Executives provides participants with an exciting opportunity to create real projects and mentoring, for our high potential professions that are tied to our AEF 2009 strategic planning process.
